A Night to Remember

On the evening of September 5th, something truly special happened at Skillion Spaces in Terrigal. It wasn’t just an event, it was a heartfelt gathering to honour the quiet strength and unwavering love of the parents and carers who are at the very heart of our community. These are the everyday heroes who dedicate their lives to supporting loved ones with disability, often without recognition or rest. This evening was for them.

Hosted by Tribe Disability Support Central Coast and our charitable arm, The Tribe Foundation, this carers evening was our way of giving back to those who give so much. The serene setting of Skillion Spaces provided the perfect backdrop, relaxed, beautiful, and full of warmth, reflecting the energy we hoped to create for our carers.

As the sun set over Terrigal, our parents gathered to simply be, to connect, to laugh, to feel seen, and to be reminded that they are not alone. This wasn't about speeches or schedules. It was about presence. It was about community. It was an evening rooted in love — love for those we care for, love for one another, and most importantly, a quiet return to loving ourselves.

Delicious food and drinks flowed throughout the night, thanks to the generosity of our local partners. Four Hands Restaurant filled our bellies with nourishing dishes that warmed the soul. Georgia and Josh from Tribe was our bartenders for the night, keeping spirits high with refreshing margaritas and crisp white wine, while the ever-talented Victoria curated a stunning antipasto spread that brought everyone together before the formalities began. Every detail, every flavour, was chosen with care, because our carers deserve the very best.

Tribe Central Coast Disability Support exists to do more than provide services, we strive to build a village around those who care. This evening was an extension of that mission. We created a safe and welcoming space where carers could speak freely about the realities of supporting someone with a disability. These personal, honest conversations were powerful. They reminded us that while each journey is unique, there are threads that connect us all, the challenges, the joys, the resilience.

We were also fortunate to have Lisa Kofoed from Influential Growth join us on the night. Her insights into the work of Behaviour Practitioners were enlightening and empowering, helping our carers better understand the supports available to them. This kind of knowledge is invaluable, because when carers are better supported, so are their loved ones.

To end the night on a high, we were thrilled to give away some incredible prizes, generously donated by our local community. A heartfelt thank you to Endota Day Spa Terrigal, Rhonda’s Pizza & Bar, and Crowne Plaza for their generous contributions. One lucky carer received the main prize, an overnight stay at Crowne Plaza with breakfast included, a well-deserved escape for someone who rarely gets a moment to themselves.

Behind the scenes, Tribe Central Coast Disability Support team worked tirelessly to bring this evening to life. Georgia and Josh were instrumental throughout the night, ensuring everyone felt nourished, heard, and celebrated. Their dedication, along with the rest of the Tribe team, made the evening feel seamless and special.

Events like this are not just about food and prizes. They’re about creating moments of connection. They’re about filling emotional cups that are often running on empty. At Tribe Central Coast Disability Support, we believe that caring for the carer is just as important as caring for the person with a disability. We want our carers to know: you are seen. You are appreciated. And you are never alone.

We hope to host more of these evenings in the future. Because carers deserve more than just our thanks, they deserve time, rest, community, and joy. If you're a parent or carer in our Tribe, we welcome you with open arms to our future events. Let this be a reminder that your wellbeing matters too.

Thank you to every parent and carer who joined us. Your presence, your stories, and your spirit made the night what it was, unforgettable. We look forward to welcoming you again at our next ‘A night with Tribe’ Central Coast Disability Support carers event.

Until then, take care of yourselves, as you so beautifully care for others!
