OSCAR | SUPPORT WORKER CENTRAL COAST

Hellooo, my name is Oscar! I’ve lived on the sunny Central Coast for most of my life and feel very lucky to call it home. Most of my previous experience has come from working in face to face roles with people from all walks of life across a range of industries, including entertainment, tourism, and hospitality.

Helping people live their best life is something I find incredibly fulfilling, and I couldn’t be more excited to have found a new home in support work. I’m very much a peoples person and pride myself in being patient, genuine and someone you can always lean on.

Outside of work, you’ll often find me DJing on weekends or grinding out new music of my own. I have a deep love for music and would happily spend my last dollar going to concerts. I feel most grounded when I’m outdoors, whether that’s heading to the beach, skating, going for a bush walk, or just any walk at all really. I take my health seriously, which means I enjoy preparing (and especially eating) good food and decompressing at the gym.

It feels great knowing that I can make a positive impact in people’s lives, and I’m really proud to be here.

I’d describe myself as patient, supportive, kind, and genuine. I’ve always had a strong passion for helping others, and I feel like I’ve found my true calling in this work.

In my spare time, you’ll find me surfing, snowboarding, or jamming out to some music. I’m also really into making surfboards, it’s one of my favorite hobbies. But no matter what, I always prioritise spending quality time with the people who matter most to me.

Rachel | SUPPORT WORKER CENTRAL COAST

Hello! My name is Rachel. I’m pretty new to the role of a support worker, but I’ve been working in the industry for around 6 months and I am excited to take the leap with Tribe. Growing up, I watched my mum battle with her own mental health struggles and saw how much it affected her daily life. Since she received her own care through support work, I saw how much she had lightened up with the right people looking after her and I wanted to be a part of that. My dream is to be a nurse and work in the mental health ward helping those who need it most and to develop the confidence they deserve, or call me crazy… I’d also love to work in the emergency department! I am incredibly passionate about mental health and I think it is super important to be heard and respected. I try to be a friend they feel comfortable and open with more than anything. Working in this industry goes far beyond being a social outlet for clients, the thought of knowing that someone feels supported, valued and listened to makes a difference in my own wellbeing and it is incredibly rewarding. Weekends you'll most likely find me at either the gym, walking my dog or simply doing absolutely nothing to decompress after a long week!

RORY | SUPPORT WORKER CENTRAL COAST

Hi everyone, I’m Rory and I have been a Coastie for 8 years! I started disability support work after graduating High School, however my passion for supporting others has come from my lived experience with supporting my older sister who has a rare genetic disorder. Through growing up alongside her, I have learnt the importance of compassion, respect and individualised care, and this has become ingrained in how I treat others.

Outside of work, I love visual and dramatic arts, listening to music, being outside in the sunshine (whether it be walking my dogs or swimming at the beach) as well as cooking. I’m always excited to talk about niche interests, so nothing is off limits if you’re sharing a special interest with me!

PEYTON | SUPPORT WORKER CENTRAL COAST

Hey I’m Peyton, I’ve been working in disability support for about 3 years now, mainly focusing on mental disabilities, which I've come to realise is definitely my strength. Growing up, I was surrounded by this world, both of my siblings have mental and physical disabilities, and watching them light up from the support they received made it clear to me that I wanted to be part of that same positive impact. It really sparked my passion to help others like them.

In the evenings, you’ll usually find me waitressing or behind the bar. I like to keep busy and on my toes! Outside of work, I’m all about getting outdoors, going on bushwalks, and hunting for hidden gems in nature. I’m also a big fan of dancing and doing little performances when I can, hitting the gym, or diving into the world of beauty as a fun side hustle.

If I’m not doing any of that, I’m probably out at a restaurant with friends (I suffer from serious FOMO—so if something’s happening, I need to be there!). I love being social and staying involved in whatever’s going on around me.

Hi, I’m Katie! I’m a bubbly, energetic, and fun-loving girl. TRISTAN | Quality & Safeguard Officer | SUPPORT WORKER

Tristan here! Originally hailing from Tasmania, I've traversed through Melbourne before settling on the serene shores of the Central Coast in pursuit of finding my tribe. Transitioning from the culinary world to the support sector was unexpected but enlightening, particularly as I delved into modules on neurodiversity during my studies. This exploration shed light on my own journey, offering clarity and empowerment.

Now, I find solace in aiding others, drawing from my own experiences to support neurodivergents and individuals facing various challenges. Whether it's diving into the water or cruising on my motorcycle, I cherish moments of quiet introspection amidst life's adventures. Yet, amidst my love for exploration, I find comfort in the stability of boundaries and structure.

Above all, my belief in the importance of empathy and understanding resonates deeply with TRIBE's ethos, driving my alignment with their values.

Jackson | SUPPORT WORKER CENTRAL COAST

My experience in support started a few years ago with my grandfather. Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I supported him for over a year before he passed away. This was a massive turning point for me and it was when I realized I wanted to be a support worker. I knew that I had the capability to support others, just as I had with my family. I enjoy the challenge, as well as the ability to bring a bit of joy to people in their everyday lives as I find this really rewarding.

My passions include traveling, all things food, meeting new people, and keeping active. My favorite sports are Oz tag and swimming. I would consider myself a pretty chilled person who loves to listen to music and spend hours at the beach. I have always lived close to the water so it has been a big part of my life whilst growing up.

HIVA | SUPPORT WORKER CENTRAL COAST

I have been working in the disability sector for over 25 years, I have a lot of experience and knowledge, and skills that I have attained along the way. I have previously been working in an enterprise workshop factory and was the floor supervisor working with people with disability and running a production line as a process worker. I did this for many years then transitioned into community/living support work and it has been very rewarding.

It is a passion of mine to assist and work with people with disabilities when Supporting clients they usually warm up to me easily cause of the warm and calm nature I have when approaching them. I believe everyone should live with a quality of life of their choice and working with a person-centered approach is most important letting the clients that are being supported have a say and choice of options in their daily life so that they know they have control of their own life with support.
