Purpose
Every shift begins before you arrive at the participant's home. Being organised and prepared helps ensure supports start on time, participants feel respected, and services are delivered safely and professionally.
What to do
Before leaving for your shift:
Review your ShiftCare schedule and confirm the correct start time and location.
Read any shift notes, alerts, behaviour support plans or risk assessments.
Ensure your phone is charged and available throughout your shift.
Check you have your Tribe uniform (if applicable) and present yourself professionally.
Ensure your vehicle is clean, roadworthy and has sufficient fuel if transporting participants.
Bring any required PPE or equipment.
Allow extra travel time for traffic, roadworks or weather conditions.
What Not to Do
Don't leave home without checking ShiftCare.
Don't assume today's support is the same as last week's.
Don't arrive unprepared or without reading important participant information.
Check the address before departing.
Don't begin your shift if you are unwell or impaired.
Remember
Preparation is part of delivering quality support. If you have any questions about your shift before leaving, contact the office before the scheduled start time.
